The pay is low compared to other similar positions, the work volume is high, the culture is very poor, and the management is unhelpful to say the least. You will never get a raise. You will be doing 10 jobs in one.
No opportunity for commission, yet the managers make a bonus based on the sales of everyone. During the holidays expect to work til at least midnight every night. The one good thing is that since there is such limited amount of hours you will get any day you request off.
The entire company seems very unorganized. Part and full time employees receive sick time pay. However, if you have sick time they often forget to pay you for it and make you get coverage even if you were in a car accident. Overall, most people do not last more than a few months, so the turnover is high. Pros Flexible schedule, engraving is fun. Cons No breaks, understaffed, low pay, poor work culture.

I have always struggled to find a job I actually liked and that I felt like I was making an impact in. I never considered customer service or production until I had my interview at Things Remembered. But I am very happy I took the jump and accepted the job offer. Pros New connections, good pay and nice full time benefits. You will never get done at your scheduled time.
Management sucks. It started out pretty fun, it is a sales job so definitely go into it expecting to have to be aggressive. Honestly it all can remedied by simply adding more payroll for coverage. Give great discounts to employees. Pros Good pay for Christmas season. Cons Management. One person show. Key holder and engraver. Keep in mind that this is an only one person shift job, you are alone all the time until the person who closes show up. You have to sell, then personalize by engraving as many items you sell per customer within an hour, so being able to manage time is crucial.
Also you engrave all the online orders to be picked at or shipped from your location and you cannot leave any engraving for next day. If you are a store manager you are required to work 40 hours but everyone else, including assistants will get 20 hrs or so with only about 73 to 76 weekly payroll hours for the entire store. Then in December all All I have to say is that this is not a job for just anyone, it requires a lot of commitment, energy and will power. Now based on this, make your own conclusion.
Pros Part time job with a lot of time if you go to school. Cons Being alone all the time without chance for a break. Great place to work. I would say if you are looking for a place that be supportive and help you grow, this is the place for you.
The people are great and so is the culture. Honestly better jobs out there. It is not that great and of course since it is retail. Unrealistic expectations and unbelievable work hours especially during holidays. Be prepared to stay past closing time up to 5am on holidays lol. Started out not a bad place to work. More and more cuts. No management in store except store manager. No salary increases. No lunch or bathroom breaks. Edit: more Assistant store managers are being hired. Pros Decent PTO package and insurance for retail.
Cons Not enough coverage to have a real lunch or bathroom break. I started with the company just for the rest of the staff to quit. Everyone ended up quitting due to the lack of respect given by corporate. Fun place to work for holidays. I came back for three years to work seasonally. Always learned something new. Enjoyed management in HR department.

December 17, It's not worth it. It's not worth the stress and how the job slowly takes over your entire life and well being. What is the most stressful part about working at Things Remembered? Stores get very busy on single coverage and you rarely get a break. Corporate will also randomly email visual changes to be done that night when busy on single coverage as well. Some stores do not have the grid hours to support employees staying past pm.
