If the coals have gone beyond red, the heat will not be high enough, and you will have to add more coals and wait for them to turn red.

I recommend partially opening the bottom vent, as I think it help keep the fire hot. Opening and closing the vent is one way to control the temperature. For instance, if the flames are burning high, closing the vent slightly will calm them.

If using a gas grill, it should be preheated for at least 10 minutes. If hot enough, the food should cook as quickly as it would on a wood- or charcoal-fired grill. Move the food away from the direct heat when necessary to ensure even grilling.

No matter the type of grill used, remember that all grilling should take no more than a few minutes. You should stand by the grill, ready to take action immediately should flare-ups occur. Simply move the food away from the flame and wait for it to die down. It takes much longer than five minutes to heat the grill, The grill marks on the meats are very faint and it takes longer than the time listed to cook them even medium.

I've not had the severe smoke problem that others have described. I don't think it was worth the money. It is very convenient, however, it is not all that great for an electric stove. The paint melts off I have to use a small baking sheet under it.

Works great with a gas range or anything that puts out flamage. Not too impressed with the Anytime Grill. Infomercial looked awesome, but I have not experienced the same grilling effect. I use to set my fire alarm off every time I used it. Then I cooked on 3 instead of 5 and it was very little smoke or not that much.

I just made chicken ,it was not as good as it would have been if the fire was set higher ,but it still had a very good tastes. Ordered the Minden Indoor grill as a gift. The problem: the company doesn't allow the 2nd grill to a be shipped to a different address. I therefore ordered both grills to be sent to the recipient's address - instead they were both sent to my address. Called customer service to find out what happened - they had no explanation. I asked about their return policy.

They advised I could return them and get a full refund for the cost of the grills only - they do not refund shipping costs and again I was told they were already losing money due to the discounted price on the 2nd grill. The customer service representative made no offers to remedy the situation.
